  • s2 cutting out at idle and bad on fuel

    ok im new to s2's so new to the forums aswell so sorry if im asking in the wrong place or anything

    iv had it a few weeks and its been a dream until last night when it started idling irraticaly
    from500 to 1500 and ocasionaly cutting out also seems flat/ sputtery until 2500 tonight on the way home its been cutting out everytime i stop
    cant see any obvious boost leaks or anything

    its a aby coupe if that makes any difference

    please help cheers john

    idle stabalisation valve?

      N71 Idle Speed Stabilization Valve

      Could be a vacuum/boost leak but you should start with checking and cleaning the N71 Idle Speed Stabilization valve (ISV). Some info is available here (note: AAN, ABY and ADU all use the same ISV):

        cool thanks is brake and clutch cleaner ok to use for cleaning this will try this tomorrow and let yous know how i get on

          Maybe but I would use to carburetor and injector cleaner instead.

              Cleaned it out today and doesn't seem any better. Wasn't oily inside anyways. Will have a look at the maf tomorrow cheers john

                Bad news/good news: Bad news = that wasn't the cure; Good news = at least that has been eliminated as a potential problem and, oh yeah, you now have a clean ISV.

                On to the MAF and maybe the throttle potentiometer (and vacuum leaks):
