Audi 80 2.0 Sport - Oil pressure slow to build?

    Looking for some pointers here:

My 1991 Audi 80 Sport 2.0 8v is intermittently slow to build oil pressure first thing in the morning. It is often when the level is low (but within limits)

However this morning it took 1 - 2 MINUTES for the oil light to go off and for the oil pressure gauge to spring into life.

It has recently had an oil change and service which included an oil flush.

Does this point to a dodgy oil pump or do I have a very clogged engine?

    Anyone got an insights?

    Thanks,

    Steve

there are 2 switches: one behind the head, or on the block, and one at the oilfiltehousing maybe.... i would change the oilfilter first; you may have oileak innside this...
then you does have a blledback valve in the oilfilethousing; you need to desmantling the oilfilterhousing from the block( gasged??) and inside one of the small holes you have a umbrako/ torx valve.. they does sometimes come loose. and then / sometimes you got prob like this; worst case oilpump are gone/ come loose from block...

It is definitely mechanical and flow related. The oil light is accurate and so is the gauge. It just *sometimes* takes time to build pressure and appears to be getting worse, which is my worry. It's an old sh1tt3r so I don't really want to spend too much time and money on it, but I also don't want to seize the engine....

I think the simple answer is to give it another engine flush and oil change to start with to see if that helps...

        Cheers,

Sounds like a very logical suggestion.

Mine does this but if I blip the revs on start up pressure come straight up, Isn't there some one way valve that gets sticky?

IN the oilhousing... the loose part, with umbrako or torx....

Do the tappets click? If the checkvalve is ******ed and oil is draining back then they would. Also I'd expect them to rattle if oil pressure was actually low.
