    Lost faultcode plugs (B3 90 2.3 NG)

    Hey all,
first of all, i'm not sure if i should post here or in engine problems lol....
Anyway in my car in the tray just above the drivers footwell, there where a pair of 2 pin plugs clipped into said tray/shelf....... I have just found out these are there to read fault codes from the ecu...

Now my problem, as i had to remove the tray earlier in the year to get at wiring to fit an alarm and imobilizer, i had unclipped these 2 plugs...... thought no more about them and they where stuffed up with the rest of wiring mess when the tray was refitted

There are quite a few 2 pin plugs up in there as i found out this evening when i removed the tray hoping to find them......

Can anyone tell me what colour the 2 plugs are meant to be? And or better still, the colours of the wires going into the plugs? Am i right in believing on of the plugs only has one wire in it?

Oh yeah, the car is a 1990 90 2.3E (NG)

    TIA
    Dan.

They should be beside the bonnet release. AFAIK that car should have a Black, Brown, and Blue plug. Or possibly just two, Black and White. From memory the Black one is + and - power, white/brown is K and L line data communication. Dont know what the Blue ones are for, may only have a single wire.

I had white and light brown if I remember way back when I had my beloved 2.3E Coupe,
Could also be black and white, sometimes there's a third again if I remember right, that being blue Like Mark says above.

When you do find them, note that the 2.3E's ECU is a bit primitive. It doesn't control that much, just ignition if memory serves.
Also note, you'll not be able to get any info with just the ignition on. You need to go for a drive, then come to a stop and leave the engine running while you flash out any possible codes. Switch off and the ECU fault memory is lost.
Vag-com won't work, you'll have to do it the old way with a LED/Bulb and some wire/paperclip to bridge connections and the code/s will be flashed out.
20v.org should still have the process.

        Cheers Jase,
        Cheers mcandmar,

I could kick myself, if i had of knew this months ago, i could have checked for fault codes and rulesd a lot out, rather than goin round wondering is it this or that and replacing parts one by one in a futile attempt to cure the problem lol
