    Turbojacket - experiences?

    Hi all!

Looking to buy a turbojacket and have some questions regarding that.
I found both cheap and less cheap 'jackets. I heard some that cought fire, and some never had a problem with them. So, does some of you have a brand to recommend? Personally I would like to have it in dark grey/ black. No glossy jap look.
Please post a pic if you have

    Hei,

I got one from 034. It is a glossy jap look jacket. However, the gloss mostly burnt off within a few days. Now it is fine. I mainly got it to protect the brake cylinder/fluid reservoir and coils from radiant heat. My S6 is RHD.
The turbo seems to spool a little bit quicker... Don't have pic of it. I'll see if I can get one.

We use the DEI titanium wrap. the jacket got brittle after a season and tore when took it back off. tore where the exhaust housing had any sharp edges. DEI replaced it for free. We like them .... started to get a bit hot in the raintray...

instead of wrapping the turbo and increasing the EGTs i wrapped everything else. Works fine!

Why would wrapping the turbo hot side increase the EGT? The EGT should remain the same coming out into the EM. I keep seeing that wrapping the EM is death for the EM.
What is that elbow you have wrapped in the lower left corner of the pic? Looks like something coming out of a catch can? Interesting set up. Any more pics of your bay? I have not read through your project thread yet.

wrapping the hotside and EM, means that as the heat inside the EM and hotside takes longer to dissipate from the metal(as it is wrapped) it will make things hotter. Even when people say that wrapping reduces the EGTs, they are wrong. A lot of people had used wraps in the past and then got rid of them as after continous runs the heat was getting too much.

They do work to reduce heat inside the engine bay,but my view was to reduce heat on areas that need to be cooler. So i allow air to go through my EM and dissipate below the downpipe and cover things that i want to be cool, like the HKS musroom filter in the front.

That elbow is a secondary catch tank, the first being a swirlpot (the black cylindrical one). It works better as a system to make sure that i get no blowby back in my turbo inlet.

            here is another photo

here is an older setup when the holset was in place. Just to show where the HKS filter was. After any stop, you could not touch the HKS filter as it was dead hot. Once i made the heat shields, it was easy to touch and inlet temps much cooler.

Thanks for pics and explanation. I agree that wrapping EM is a bad idea. I only put a jacket on the hot side. I am running a near stock set up (K24), so not too much heat.
                See pics.

Stock map sometimes can produce high egt due to being more economical and more lean. Prj will be able to confirm that as he has more experience with stock maps

I see. Got a 034 Stg1 chip set, which runs a little rich on boost.
"-Air/Fuel ratio 11.5-11.8 under boost, 14.7 under light load and idle conditions. "

I will be changing to prj's AAN automatic chip set, when funds allow.
Spending money on being evacuated from Bangkok at the moment.

I have a little list, but will have to wait to purchase.
