    Wiring Up a Shift Light

How easy is this to do? Has anyone done it?

My car is an Ur quttro with AAN engine. Since turning up the boost it's quite easy to slam into the limiter in 1st of 2nd, the revs build so fast when on boost!

All I want really is a small and discreet sequential shift light, does anyone have any recomendations.

    Thanks

    Angus

hi mate i have wired up shift lights, but only on s2's. if they are the same it would be a green and blue wire on the back of the cluster.
some people use a blank light (airbag for eg) on the speedo. i bought a brockway engineering s100 from the USA i paid £100 for it a couple of yers ago,i like it as its proper touring car style where the first 4 lights glow greem then the next orange and final 3 red

I fitted one to my s2

Glowshift one cost £27 posted (single flash though), you could easily remote mount the unit and run two wires to a bulb wherever you want.

I picked up on the tach signal wire in the s2, I don't know if the ur works the same way though?

Can make motronic flash CEL or just use an unused output in it for the shift light if needed.
Requires five-six rows of ASM code inside the ECU though.

          And in english?

Thanks Andy, I'll have a look at that thread...

I have the 6 Speed CGR box in mine, but it outputs a speed signal to the original green digital dash, not sure hopw the rev counter section is wired...

So all I need is one input signal from the engine somewhere along with an earth and a live feed?

Basically it is possible to add shift light functionality to the stock ECU, connect a LED to one of it's outputs and make it flash it when needed.
            Needs modification of ECU though
