well your oil pressure sounds fine then. I'd say the smaller of the two senders or the connection to it has gone bad in that case. I've had exactly this happen on a 10 valve motor, the top of the sender had broken up completely.

Thanks for re assuring me mate!

Only just got it driving it's been a right pain in the ****!

If it doesn't make any difference I might just leave the sensor for the new owner to inherit/repair I can liv with 3 beeps and a flash lol!

Seems like a lot of work for something so trivial!

What do you reckon worth leaving alone?

Personally I'd sort it out, the sender is less than 20 quid and could just be the connection, granted it's not a very nice job getting at it but it can be done in under an hour if you get stuck into it. Mind you I have nice tools as I'm a mechanic, so it's not so bad for me.

If your going to want to sell the car then I'd definitely fix the problem, it will REALLY put off buyers.

Will sort it just before sale I reckon.. See what my cousin says thanks to him it's on road today! The S2 has been off the road for too long prior.. I enjoy driving it too much for it to be sat up again Hopefully it fixes itself  lol

I've noticed it to be quite juicy round local 11mpg? That's a mix between hard and normal driving

Haven't took it on motorway yet, having trust issues after the last time it went wrong on me 

Thanks for your help everyone  really appreciate it

Check the brake pot level or PAS level, mine did the same for the pas being low.

11 MPG is high consumption, but not out of the question if driving very hard or doing a lot of stop start driving.

11mpg ! ouch. I'd say thats quite low unless its getting a hard time all the time.

As for the pot, mine ended up being the sensor in the top ( I hadn't read the rest of the thread until now so sounds more like a oil related sensor fault )

I'm well though mate, needing a lottery win sometime soon though ha ha

Yea I thought as much, it is stop start small but excitable journeys I'm going to start taking on motorway next week or so esp with the weather to come and the 4wd, and when I'm not on earlys don't have the time for it to warm up at 6am  so my golf tdis doing the Job ATM hopefully with motorway driving il see I improve £20 optimax isn't getting me very far right now! As for winning the lottery lol. I'm sure me and everyone else here are on the same boat!

i would have thought the warning light you are getting will be due to the ecu getting confused?? after initial ignition on sequence it will be expecting to start and carry out its self check. once this is done it will be looking for all the signals it needs to run, with it just sitting with ignition on and not actually running, therefore having very little oil pressure it may give the warning in error??? if the oil pressure light is not on when the car is running i would not worry.
or am i barking up the wrong tree?

Colesy the one your thinking about is a red circle with an exclamation Mark with the beep of course. This is linked to PAS, water and brake fluid levels. If you getting this one check all of the previous mentioned and then check the little nipple on the top of the pas fluid level. Sometimes it sticks causing it to flash and beep. If this is the culprit spray with carb or brake cleaner and gently with a soft wire brush give it a quick rub over and it will hopefully clean it up and solve the sticking and beeping.

Sounds though that the issue of this thread is none of the above I have mentioned.

No liggy your pretty spot on mate, I think it could well be the sensor issue k_simmonds was referring to, we have assatained the oil pressure stays pretty normal so, might aswell leave it and get it fixed in the summer! Yes christophski it is the oil tub lamp that flashes and not the exclamation mark 
