    Mechanical Boost - Definitive Checklist

Been doing some testing today on a forum member's car and the long & short of it is, it's only running mechanical boost on stock and homefries chips (ran fine on my car, not on this one). I have tried some other chips (that I'm running in my ECU) and they're only boosting to 1.2 bar rather than 1.5 - I can only think that these don't have the safety protocols of the other 2 chips; hence not runing mechincal boost. The car is bone stock and so the strange ABY temperature compensation is unlikely to be the cause - it runs 1.3 bar on the same gauge in my car under the same conditions, due to the RS2 IC.

I want to piece together a definitive checklist of what we need to check. The car runs well other than the boost and did not show any boost leaks on a recent test, nor did it show any fault codes. I'm fairly convinced that it's a sensor problem and will have to look at VAG Com and see what shows up.
    • Altitude sensor - erroneous value.
    • Knock sensors - bolt torque and sensor condition - linky.
    • IAT sensor - resistance.
    • Coolant sensor - resistance hot and cold.
    • Knock sensor wiring - it starts fine but could be an intermittent fault.
    • N75 operation (although the higher boost seen indicates that this works).
    • Dump valve (as N75, the higher boost indcates that this is OK - it's a piston type so shouldn't have the diaphrgm issues of a stock S2 / 710N).

All information gratefully received - I've searched for various things, one of which was some useful knock sensor information. Blocks to measure, resistance graphs etc. would be grand.

Plan is to get it running properly as stock and then use the Homefries chips in it. The car is bone stock other than the piston DV and so we need to go through it properly and get it all sorted out I'm thinking it's the knock sensors TBH... luckily I have spares.

    It's not the knock sensors.

    Check:
    Altitude sensor
    MFTS
    IAT sensor
