Last week I was driving along a duel carriage way, 60mph,light throttle when the car started missing and losing power, like it was running out of fuel. The AFR gauge was full lean too. I limped off at the next exit and it seemed to clear, only to come back a few mins later. I pulled over and switched the engine off and restarted it, this seemed to clear the problem and it ran fine.
Yesterday the problem returned but this time it got worse and I couldn’t clear it, it was running so rough at low revs it was stalling. The strange thing is, it’s only on very light throttle openings, if put my foot down it clears, the AFR’s go back to normal and it pulls strongly.
I’m getting 525 and 537 error codes which are both lamda related, not sure if this is the cause or effect?
Things I have tried tonight:-
Checked resistance on TPS which was normal, got a nice smooth change of resistance as it was opened and closed.
Cleaned ISV valve
Cleaned MAF and MAF plug
Checked and cleaned plugs on Lamda
Ran output tests with VAG-COM, all seemed normal
Took it for a test drive and it ran fine for about 10mins then same symptoms returned
Any ideas what to check next?
I’m thinking that either the lamda is shot or maybe a problem with the fuel pump, but that does not explain how it runs normally with more throttle.
