    Another 3B engine rebuild

Right time is coming to have my 3B rebuilt so here I go with a list of what I think I'll require for a healthy 400+ ponies if I’m wrong please put me right. (I’m no expert so be gentle ) Some of the parts I all ready have. I know this has been covered in lots of previous build threads but going through them all to see who’s done what and what works has my head in a spin so apologies but here I go:

Complete set of shells standard or RS2?
    3B or RS2 oil pump?
    3B or RS2 water pump?
    RS2 Head Gasket?
Aronmatic H beam rods with ARP's - purchased
    RS2 IM - Purchased
    Stock pistons, Ok for 400+?
Wagner RS2 Evo EM - purchased
    GT3076r - purchased
    RS2 IC - purchased
ARP head & mains stud kit, awaiting purchase
    Rebuilt head (no porting)
    Bosch EV14's - purchased
Bosch 044 Fuel pump - purchased
    Stock cams??
and looking for either 7A / ABY rocker cover for the RS2 IM
Will convert to coil packs during the rebuild which route undecided
    Mapping to be done by???

    Thanks indavance

Looks to be along the right lines.
    • IIRC, mains and big end shells are the same ABY ADU - check out AndyP's thread for the ones he's used in his 3B stroker.
    • Metal headgasket is all the same - victor reinz kit or Audi.
    • I think the 3B cambelt setup is different to the ABY/ADU/AAN and so you'll have to stick with a 3B setup.
    • Not 100% on the oil pump but look at Rocco and 4wheeldrifter's threads for 2.2 3Bs and AndyP for stroker 3B projects running big power.
    • New clutch - Sachs, Southbend, Spec or other - that 3076 is going to be an animal.
    • Breather system needs a complete overhaul and upgrade.
    • 3" downpipe and complete system.
    • Inlet will need to be modified to fit the new turbo and you'll more than likely have to run the MAF on the pressure side , if you're keeping Motronic.
    • Lighten and balance of the rotating parts and a flywheel clean up or lighten - Aelred or basset down.
    • Stock cams and pistons are fine.
    • Relocate head breather and increase bore to suitable size.

You've slightly over-clubbed the turbo there for 400bhp but at least there will be plenty left in it, if you want; 3071 or k26/27 is closer to the size you want for 400 but that's can be sorted with the mapping.

3076 users are Bram, RWD19T (2.2 & stroker), 4wheeldrifter (2.2), Jamo (stroker) and europeanme has done a recent thread on it. There will be more besides but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

You would do well with a Wagner IM and IC setup on there with that turbo, although it's not essential.

Aelred and RWD19T are well worth a shout about engine and head building and as for mapping... you've got 3 options I can think of - MRC, Automark and prj on here.

Always more to think about / add and I'm sure I've missed off a few things for others to pick up.
