    T3 Flange 0.48 AR Housing for GT3071R

Is it possible to fit a 0.48 T3 flanged hotside turbine housing to a GT3071R?

I have see there are a few people using the turbo like this on the net.

    I think t

    Its also available from new here;

I think some of these may be suitable? The housing would need to be machined to suit the shape/size of the turbine from what I understand?

Egt's get pretty toasty on the top end with .63 would be surprised if you made 400hp with .48 housing. You could fit a small model with bigger/matched turbine and the output would be more usable. I think fitting such a small housing on a relatively large unit could be a bit of a waste. Having said that it's up to you what you want from the car. If it is a city daily driver and doesn't stretch it's legs very often then might not be too bad.

I was all set to swap to a machined K26 hotside which I belive is 0.48 AR. This route is quite well proven.

However, by doing it this way I would have a 0.48 A/R without having to change my t3 exhaust manifold.

I want torque and spool and am prepared to sacrifice some power over my current 0.63 housing mapped to 440 Bhp.

You find the .63 too laggy? I don't think it's too bad but then i drive a ropey turbo diesel van every day. Anything feels perky by comparison

although how do I tell if my turbo has a 60mm turbine or 56.5mm version, or is the 56.5mm version the internally gated turbo?

Where do you get 56.6mm from out of interest? external wastegated 3071 is 60mm turbine

56.5 is for internal wastegate with t25 housing

0.48AR is way too small for these engines. I had a drop off of torque after 5500rpm and obviously starting as early as 3000rpm and 2800rpm on 6th gear on a non ported head on my old setup, which was making 420hp on 3071R 0.63AR

EGTs where high not only on high boost but also during cruising above 3000rpm which is always a problem if you also want to keep consumption low.

Try it though, as you will never know you like it no matter what we say about it!

How about surge? It's so wrong to try make a diesel powerband of these engines.

What's the difference between this and a K26/GT3071 Hybrid then?

This is what I'm trying to achieve. I want to bosst early and with good torque.

Hopefully with my engine spec I should still make over 400bhp?

Also at about £220 shipped for the housing it's quite cheap to try apart from the remap element.

Only other thing I can think to try is the twin scroll 0.76 housing.

i wouldnt go to a twin scroll. what im saying is that you may not see too much benefit between the 0.48ar and the 0.63 that you already have.

Also the increased surging that you will have with the smaller ar you may end up having to reduce the boost curve to avoid it, and hence have less torque than what the current 0.63ar gives you.
