    8.5:1 ratio

I am about to buy a set of je's with 8.5:1 comp ratio.
How the car feels with this at low revs,if keeping for now k24 7000 turbo?
When changing to k24 7200 the low revs will be worse than 9,3:1 ratio?
This 8.5:1 is an option for me because 2 weeks faster delivery than other, not because prepairing engine for more than an rs2 setup.

    Regards,

i will advice some higher comp: the low comp does have the higher fuel consumptions, and better fillings, when the turbo comes on... but in the street/ town it will be some dull engine...
i think 9,0 or so will be ok; the new pc controlled like autronic, or other will compensate for the higher comp..and you will have the lower ecoustemp..

8.5 be fine won't feel any different to stock off boost it will just run more timing across the board

      Stock isn't 9.3 with metal gasket it's around 8.8 to 9

The adu is quoted to be 9,3:1.And i guess there were no early versions of it(as aan were) with non metal gasket.
        Thx,

There ate a lot of threads on this Read the forum the cr has been tested on the engine and calculated
the 9.3 was from the paper gasket era
The metal gasket is thicker and lowers cr

My car runs 8.5:1 at present, it feels very responsive off-boost and fine to drive around town. Alot better than before the rebuild when it was on stock compresion, in fact! I did have the cylinder head port/polished though, which is why.

This means the paper gasket was 1.32mm to obtain 9.3:1 cr
                I used http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compression_ratio formula ,9:1 cr and a 1.65mm metal gasket thickness .
I obtained head chamber volume and using this i calculated needed gasket thickness to obtain 9,3:1 CR.
                May be...
The gasket dimension is when torqued or when free?I never had curiosity to measure one..
