    ACU block

I recently purchased my first S2 here in Oz and looking to build a stroker engine. I've been giving my phone a hernia trying to find a TDI block locally with no luck Although I have just come across someone that has an ACU 2.5 petrol block going fairly cheap

I know there are no piston oil squirters & I would need to get them put in, along with all the other neccessary mods.

I'm guessing that it should be fine for a 600hp goal. I plan on using the stock 95.5 crank that it comes with to keep the rod/stroke ratio of 1.66 and boring to 83mm.

Has anyone used, or thought of using this block for a stroker project? Or recommend to not use it?

I recieved an email from someone selling an ACV TDI block today. Would this be suitable and a prefered block over the ACU? A quick check on ETKA showed main and rod bearing p/n's considerably different to earlier blocks. Would this be a concern if I wanted to use the crank it comes with and replace the bearings with the earlier bearing p/n?

the 2,5 acv does have the oilsquirter in... and the cranck does also have 95,5, but have a countersteelplate scewed on; for the ignition hall sencor at the leftside low on the block( green unit i think)... the cranc will have different P/N even for one singel rebored screwhold... and this cranck will fit even in a 1900ccm 5 pot block too... and the con rods does have 26(!!!!!)mm x-pin hole..
the acv have 81,00 mm bore( 6,1-6,3mm thicknes in the syl wall) and some bigger headbolts ( m11 i think)

Are these figures from ETKA somewhere? Can you send me a link to this info?

The cylinder thickness you mention there, how do they compare to other blocks such as ABY or AAT?

You think this is a suitable block and crank to use?

i know this info; i have this different blocks around in the basement; and i have dismantled varies block to learn about this; search this forum about stroker; you will loads of info

if you do have a syl bore about 81,00mm( std in 2,2literturbo and some TDI's) and you rebore to 83,00,you have milled down only 1mm from the syl wall; ok with that?

i have homemade tool to check out the syl thicknes...
the redblock of volvo have about 3,5mm walls with the 96,00 bore( b230) and they does have 400-1200hp in theese engines( may have seen one with 1300) , ok, with some of concreete in, so the audi does have thicker syl walls...
you does have to seatch the web for the org family album...cant send this album around, i have an old verson too

Well, I have decided to go with the ACV block as oil squirters are already in place and will save some time and money without the extra machining. The block is on its way to a workshop to be stripped and an ultrasound done to measure cyl thickness.

Kalsket uses a modified ACU block. I know because I sold it to him...

All tall blocks use M12 head bolts compared to usual M11 in traditional petrol blocks.
