    GT3076R vs GTX3071R

I had a look into the atp website today and noticed 2 things.

    1) the GTX series compressor wheels are now available to upgrade at a reasonable price

    2) the 3071 has pretty much identical map as the GT3076. Some say that it could also spool a bit better and have less lag... But still produce more than 500hp

Finally, what is this GTX3576? Is it a 3076 compressor wheel with a GT35 turbine wheel? That with a .63ar would possibly produce less backpressure than the 3076...

Well as far as I can speculate, the GTX3076 would spool as the GT and produce more power, but according to a site that they tried those in subarus the difference was 25hp at similar boost (1.9bar)

The idea is to run more boost, not the same boost...

that is the first time a GTX has different spool rather than hp difference!

$300 for the upgrade kit, that's really tempting!

edit : Just re-read that, and it's only $300 if you buy a new turbo

oops, missed that, but i wonder if owen can do any such upgrade if they have access to the wheels.

There is no such upgrade in reality as the gtx wheels can't be bought separately through normally sources according to Owens
The upgrade for gt turbos is the hta or turbo dynamics billet wheel

The gtx wheels can be got. Not many at the moment but give it time. I'm yet to see a comp map for a hta so they can't be compared on paper. I would go for the gtx 3071 over the gt3076. Similar power, less lag due to the reduced inertia of the smaller exducer on the comp wheel.

The gtx3076 is a larger compressor than the gt3076 and not supriseingly flows more. Fractionally more lag too. Maybe even 600hp when on the gt35 turbine as in the gtx3576. The gt30 turbine was always said to be slightly undersized for the 76mm compressor, but it works well enough. The 71mm compressor is a better match.

I know a few people that use hta in 4 cyl. 1.8T engines with good results. Forced Performance say it flows 57lbs which is sort of as the GTX3071.

Trouble is that the 3076 as you say has the turbine as it's weak point, causing high back pressure. However I'm not sure what's going to happen to the lag...

Why don't hta show maps for their compressors. Without them your just ******* in the wind.
