    Would be space and weight afaik it weighs over 25 kg
    I wouldn't bother until this tech is less fragile to egt for petrol cars a lot other fords cossie and Renault R5 guys have dabbled with this and end up with failed turbos

      I heard of only one holset fail in petrol but it came out that he had very retarded timing (wrong standalone mapping and CPS setup). IIRC he had very high EGT that every turbo VGT or not would fail.

      Weight was on my car not an issue (20 kg IIRC) but I used a brace.

      The Holset VGT mechanism is very robust since it is one single piece made of Inconel as the turbine blades. It can withstand what every turbo can. Garrett and 3K BW VGT has 20+ moving parts.

      @Ian

      "After a 4000km trip through the Balkan, I had to make a tuff choice: I have to remove the VGT turbocharger. The exhaust housing is so massive and close to the wheel arch and while I was climbing at 1800 meters altitude behind a truck with almost no cold air flowing through the engine bay it started to melt the plastic of the wheel arch and the anti corrosion of the metal. It was not on flames but it was enough for me to make the decision. On the motorway it was not an issue. Maybe with another exhaust manifold it would be better. Maybe a custom one.

      Today I removed the Vgt turbo and it looked like the day I put it on. I have done approximate 6000 km on it.

      On the VGT with no serious fine tuning I had 0.5 bar at 3500 and 1 bar at 3900 on 4. Gear."

      I am not going to sell the VGT and wait for the next oportunity to fit it on a car.

        What size Volute was the hotside, looking at these its 25 cm3. Also which manifold did you use, 034 do a cast one to fit.

        How did this turbo drive compared to a Hx35 ?

            the volute changes from 3 to 25....it can support literally everything.

            Dont know the 034 manifolds. The MTM one had it touching the wheel arch.
