    One way valve

Help please, saw a thread on here a while ago that had some advice about a little one way oil valve that stops oil from dropping back down into the sump when you switch engine off. Can't find it but need advice on how to fit it maybe a part number if poss, cheers, think it might have been Tonks not sure.

If that valve was faulty you'd have no oil pressure at all showing on the gauge

Not sure why you would need one. They rarely fail if the oil is keep clean. Anyway, here is a photo of what you are looking for and a link to AAN/ABY/ADU Oil Pressure Sender, Switches and Check Valve info:

Why ? The check valve is there to stop oil draining back from the head so you get oil
pressure there quick, if it sticks open you will just take longer to get oil to the head on start up, you WILL still have oil pressure, just won't build up as quick as it should.

No oil pressure on start up unless I give her a boot to 4,5000 revs which I hate doing but to wait for it to build can take up to 1 or 2 minutes not good either hopefully this will sort it out

I think that's more than than a check valve problem you have there, even without it it should make pressure in a few seconds.

Of course it could just be you have waxy gunk at the back of the sender so it does not see the pressure until the oil melts the waxy **** that forms when it cools.
How is it when its warm ? Have you removed the sender ? I think it is most likely that it is gunked up.

Not just a sender issue you can hear the top end until you get pressure reading it sounds nasty.

You need an 8 mm triple square (aka "serrated") bit to remove and replace the oil pressure check valve.

Any chance you are running a "built" engine with ARP main bearing studs? I don't understand this but apparently it is possible to crush the oil check valve in the block when running these studs:
