Search imsa on this forum, you can see the part numbers for the turbo it used iirc it's something daft like £4000 worth of kit

K27 is a series designation. They actually used different units in different rallies.

You most probably like to read through James Bufkin's website at http://www.bufkinengineering.com/rally%20car.htm

wow, thats a good read, he's got some special bits there

so what will I look for? because they were specially made for audi sport and I dont think I'll find any of those on ebay I've searched but I cant find anything that says "you need to get this" and I dont have 4k spare for one haha

will I have to use a combination of two turbo's? or is there just one certain k27 turbo available?

Is there any reason why you want a "s1" turbo ?

Things have moved along way from these dinosaur KKK's

well I love the audi s1, so to be able to say to myself my turbo's practically the same as an s1's would be spiffing

wether its old technology I dont mind, I know theres loads of new turbos that are probably way better but ? I dont know, what would you recommend?

I haven't read thru that website (too busy at work for that atm -> maybe this afternoon ) but I'd have assumed they continually tweaked these things to eek out more power? If you are after a replica I guess it's a case of what version do you want to replicate - or as James said, there's alot newer technology out there now.

My hybrid K26/7 for example, comes in earlier and more progressive with 450hp capabilities compared to the 380-400 of the K26/7 I replaced.

hmmm? I'd like it to get me 500hp easy if possible?

but yours sounds good ross, where would I get one? and what part numbers do I look for?

as you can tell I'm not clued up on turbos but I'm learning

You want easy (I read cheap) 500hp and you thought the way is to use an ultra rare rally car turbo from the 80's? Brilliant!
