Isn't the 044 pump for externally mounted applications? I heard of the 0580 254 040 as being a beefy in-tank version. Does that sound right?

I'm thinking of replacing the fuel pump in my 200q20v, and it has an in-tank style. Another option might be to put the 044 style in-line with the original one, which is noisy but still seems to work. I have noticed some hesitation when the boost comes on though.

        Cheers,

Ken, only Hap Maguire from Evahboost thought the 044 pump wasn't for an in-tank application and installed an expensive second tank and a new set of fuel lines (larger diameter).

I'm all over the forum, looking for what's been written in the past on this:

              Ken,

AFAIK the bosch 044 pumps can be mounted internally or externally.

That's what I see online as well. I haven't seen any 044's with an open bottom, so I guess people are putting them in with the nipple on the bottom inside the tank?

My pump is both noisy (like a swarm of angry bees, a warble and not a whine or buzz), and I've noticed a hesitation when hitting boost at cruising speed. I'll be putting RS2 bits on it, so I think I may as well do the pump. I'm already trying to figure out a low boost issue with the stock motor as well.

                Thanks,

                Ken
