The Motronic tuners can answer that but AFAIK you can use either that or if you max it out you can use another bigger MAF.
    Go Holset or Go RS4

HX35 is as broad a term as "K27", says pretty much nothing, as it is a turbo family.
It could be a 400hp turbo, or it could be a 600hp turbo.

I wouldn't map more than 430-440hp on stock MAF. Actually anything over 370-380 maxes out the maf up top.

Of course yes, it can run. The question is how long.

        maf

What type of maf is recommended för 400 - 450 hp motronic systems then? is it sufficient just to mount the original element in a larger tube?

I just fit the RS4 HFM5 maf and forget about problems with failing MAF.
Even if it were to fail at some point, the insert can be had for 65 EUR from Bosch.

Either way, this will need custom mapping. I am not aware of anyone except me using RS4 HFM5 MAF's connected directly to the ECU.
Sticking it in a bigger tube will also need remapping by someone, who knows a lot more about the ECU than 6 maps, as otherwise it will never run quite right.

            Sorry for the hijack

PRJ: have you now perfected the use of the more modern RS4 Maf with the motronic system?

            Excuse my ignorance

            Cheers

Considering that there are more than ten cars happily driving around with it by now, I would say "yes".
It's not plug and play though. ECU needs to be modified and the car custom tuned.

So if for example I was about to start on engine modifications, that would require a custom remap would you recommend upgrading to the RS4 MAF?

Financially - depends on your current MAF's condition and power target. If your current MAF is fine and power target is under about 420 hp, it does not make financial sense.

If your power target is higher than that or your current MAF is not in perfect condition, then a RS4 MAF+mapping will not be more expensive than RS2 maf+mapping, and it is definitely beneficial, as:
                  * The hot film maf does not break from the air turbulence
                  * They are a lot more sturdy
                  * They can meter air accurately to 600-650hp.
                  * Replacement elements are 65 EUR a pop.

I guess i should also apologize for hijacking the thread

The use of a heat film maf eliminates the need for going to larger tubes, right?

I think i know someone who´ll get pm whenever i get there with my enginebuild,

The RS4 MAF comes with a 3.5" OD tube. 92mm actually IIRC, but 3.5" couplers fit on it. The element that protrudes is much smaller than in the stock MAF, so it does basically not impede airflow, as there are no "fins" like in the stock unit.

You can make the RS4 MAF fit into the stock airbox on UrS4/UrS6 cars, I have not tried it on ABY, but it is probably also possible. The airbox will have to be cut up a little.

The 3.5" connection diameter fits very well with various turbo compressor housings. 3.5" is available for the GT3076R for example, and also on some HX35's.

I have no idea where you got yours from, but it's used on A3's and Q7's.
                          Probably frequency based.
