    MTM Chipping

    Does anyone have any experience of the MTM ecu conversion (qst-270 H.P.) on an otherwise standard I5 20V Turbo (de-cat).?
    A consideration for the future!

    ahem... not meaning to ruin Mr Collins' business, but why pay so much money for chips that have been developed almost 15 years ago???

      Its supposed to be a good chip, but its expensive of course.

      Home brewed chips for the 3B engine are completely usable in the RR engine (only difference is ancillary placement like alternator and aircon). Ask me or Mihnea for a price if interested. Real b*gger is getting the RR's ECU out. I don't want to do that - I assume you know where it is....

            @minhea or anyone...... 'connected'
            can you explain what benefits ur chip (the homefry) can offer over a dated MTM chip, taking into account the r+d which goes into developing such upgrades and MTM is a rather large/respected organisation able to fund extensive research.
            Also if new is better as per ur previous post, then i should be looking to upgrade to a TT sooner rather than later yes.

              I would be interested in a price thanks. I gather its a case of sending the ECU off, or is there an option of tailoring it to the actual engine. Also, what are the exact differences betwen the MTM and the home fry?
              I would be after torque+drivability+economy+reliability etc.

                Mihnea can do you a tailor made chip that is perfect for your engine. This is the best way to get the reliability from your car, homefries dont take into account differences between each engines 'make up'. Also if you just fit a homefry and there is say a fuelling problem, you wont know about it until your turbo dies as its being overheated.

                  My 3B S2 was MTM-ed by QST. Does the trick for me.

                    The MTM chip was £1000 about 5 years ago, according to my service receipts: you had to send the chip off to Germany, they would furtle with it and send it back about a week later and QST would re-install it for you and make sure it all boosted correctly. In this sense, it's not specific to the vaguries of your particular engine, but MTM know their stuff Audi-wise.

                    I don't know if they upgrade the boost sensor chip on the 3B or not, which I think you need if you want to go beyond the 270BHP-ish Stage 1 mod?

                      In Germany people who want something else, they go for Hohenester. I don't know if they are known in the UK, but they made many winning rally cars, mostly 3B-s. Mine is an ABY and I like their chipset with RS2 spring. However I still long for a set from Paul or Mihnea.......

                        Maybe there better, maybe not, but Paul and Mihnea are the only chipppers i've come across who have upgraded and refined the chips and then updated them at no cost at Billing.

                        That sir is customer service of the highest quality that in my opinion can't be beaten.
