Borg Warner / IHI RHC6 turbo - any info?

    Morning folks,

been keeping my eye on the local junkyard to get my hands on a Holset but managed to snag a Borg Warner / IHI RHC6 turbo instead...this comes on the Chevy / GMC trucks boosting a 6.5L diesel engine...

there seems to be info on people using this in the JDM market but nobody seems to be talking about it in a combo with the i5 engine...

there's some conflicting opinions on the specs but this seems about right...

    Brand: Borgwarner / IHI
    Model: 51T-32
    Size: T3/T04E
    Compressor A/R: 0.7
    Compressor wheel: 50.3/70mm - 52 trim
    Turbine A/R: 0.7
    Turbine wheel: 64.6/62.1mm 77 trim
    Flange type: standard T3
Center section: oil cooled journal bearings

this is going on a built AAN...

will fit mercedes 603 and 606 very well... little low A/R for the petrol; but it will go for a audi engine i think..the pressure will come early too.. nice piece

yup - doesn't look like it will produce stellar hp numbers but it should be spooling up pretty quick...came at the total price of 50$ (150 by the time I rebuild it but still - not bad)...on top of that it's off a domestic (for NA anyways) car so it's readily available...I`ll be keeping my eyes open for junked trucks for both Holsets and now Borg Warner chargers...

If you can get me some BW part No's I can do some digging on the specs for you at work.

hmmm I don't have a BW part number...everything I've read uses the IHI RHC6 as the official name of the turbo...there are some flow diagrams out there - looks like the turbo is made for early spool but not very high boost...from what I can tell the turbine is somewhat restrictive to accomplish the early spool but starts being too restrictive at higher speeds...it will be very interesting to test with the i5 - the rebuild kits are readily available...
