    Remove turbo coolant pump

    Hi S2 friends!
I want to remove the turbo coolant pump on my modified ABY engine. My Garret GT4088 only have oil cooling so no need of the pump. Should i replace the pump with a pipe or plug the hoses?

Just plug the hoses that go to the turbo and leave the rest in place.
    Go Holset or Go RS4

Plug the pump pipes, don't replace with a hose.

The turbo doesn't have a seperate coolant pump on the ABY it takes coolant from the water rail and returns to the block.

as Billman said block it off. The pump is for the after run circuit

That is true but the after run circuit is there specifically to cool the turbo so if there's no turbo there's no point in maintaining the pump - which will always leak eventually - on the car.

Ok wath happens if i replace the pump with a hose?

with pluged pump pipes the coolant level is calm at 900 rpm but with higer RPM the coolant level increase an overfills the expansion tank. Can it be air in the cooling system?

You can just join the pipes to the pump as well, I ran like that for 2 years and still carry a plastic join piece in the car in case the pump cracks and leaks.

The pump is there also to aftercool the head.

It`s a 800hp race car so i want it clean but the cooling system to work as good as it absolutly can. Right now it´s not working so good.

Can the coolant pass by the after run pump when it´s not activated?

Then a pipe instead of the after run pump should be the right way to do it?
                        Plug = no flow

No, I suggest plug is better because if you use a pipe then some coolant will flow that way and in so doing is bypassing the main radiator andso not getting cooled. If you plug the pipes all coolant has to go through the radiator and thus be cooled.

I think that´s the best way to, but i´m no expert.

                            I have tried both ways

With plugged hoses the coolant level is calm at 900 rpm but on higher RPM´s the coolant level increase an overfills the expansion tank. However, i forgot the bleeding nipple on the hoses that goes true the fire wall, there might be air in the system on that test.

With a pipe instead of the after run pump the coolant level stays calm even on higher rpm´s. Proper bleeding done on that test. But something tells me that´s wrong. But i want to be sure.

The car is disassembled now so i want to be sure before i put it back together
