Hi just an update for you all!!!!

Saturday the car went in, had pump taken off and reconditioned (was told it didn't look to be an original pump but slightliy newer/in better condition than expected).

Had all bearings and such replaced then back on and re-fluided.

Saturday and Sunday i did some light driving, breaks felt much better considering how they felt before - was happy :-)

Today was driving along and ...."erm... i've lost all power to my steering!"

So pulled into a pub and popped the bonnet - PAS belt was in pieces.

So off to halfords i went and amazingly after much debate they got me the right belt and myself and a friend fitted it tonight.

The steering feels incredibly light now up to before the belt went and the pump is making a 'tinkling sound' every now and again.

Is the belt to tight or loose?

Thanks all for support and tips... and to Steve for help over the phone!

Top job finding the belt and fitting it on a Bank Holiday in the UK!

The occasional noises from the pump may be air bubbles in the power steering system. Rock the steering from lock to lock a few times as this will help bleed air out of the system. If this generates the same noises you can bet it's just a bit of air. If it continues or gets louder get it checked out.

            Hi Steve,

I'll give that a try later on then!

Also i forgot to mention that Euro car parts and GSF were shut and Halfords said they didn't recognise my numberplate! so was quite amazed they were able to manually get the belt!

            Thanks again,

            David

                Big delay there... but ok!

Had the PAS pump stripped and rebuilt and have to say haven't seen any problems since.. except one (explained in a min) and the breaks feel better for it!

2 days after the pump was done driving on Easter Monday and ... "why has the steering wheel gone VERY stiff?!" pull over and - the belt had snapped! so after a lot of effort at the local halfords i managed to get 'a' belt and fitted it that night - no problems since.

After this the alternator belt was doing my head in squeaking so replaced that this week and its now all good!

The boot appears to be filling up with water and the drives window is still out of alignment so dribbles on me! but over than that a top motor.

Also i have got my BMW repaired after doing the oxygen and crank sensors.

I have added a signature pic of my collection now

Any idea's on the boot taken - i understand it can be the lights that need to come out?

                Thanks all for the support

Good job sorting out all the belts! Quite a common leak on the coupe's are the rear light seals.
