    Idling roughly+Missfire... Shutting off!

    Hi folks...

    Another S2 saga episode

Well after the engine rebuild and some breaking in, the S2 decides to pull
    another one on the owner.

Since the rebuild the idle has been rough and shakes the whole car, it oscilates from 700-900rpm, kind of like running limp and sounding v8ish
The mechanic said that probably is due to some tappets not being open, that sooner or later they will open, and everything will be fine.

On the move the car has some hesitation and roughness from 1500-3000rpm, but today almost wet my pants, when coming to a junction when the rpm dropped, it went all the way down and the car shutts off!!!!
    The steering locked on me...
    I'm joking because I'm alive!

    Any ideas!?

Already checked the MAF and injectors and everything seems ok...

    Next step coils!?

    Thanks for all your help!

I am getting very similar problems after my rebuid. I cannot seem to find the main cause, but after cleaning the ISV,and resetting the TPS and throttle cable, the idle stablelized and the car is easier to drive in traffic.car now runs well cold but is not so good when hot.

I have had problems with oscillating idle. I discovered that it was after my battery had been disconnected.

The cure was: after re-connecting the battery, before driving the car anywhere let it idle for 30mins or so. Until it is properly up to temperature.
I have had this problem several times now after battery re-connect, and this has fixed it every time. I can only assume it's an ECU reset/callibration thing?

Try the maf electric connector and clean it with electronic cleaning spray, cheap and solved all my problems, hope it does the same for yours!
