MAF Error - Sporadic, signal low. Any ideas?

    Hi All

I've been having some intermittened problems with my ABY the last few weeks. It sometime will not idle, does what feels like a overboost protection cutout when pulling off, hunting idle, that sort of thing.

Pulling the codes at a friendly Audi service centre gave me the following: MAF Signal Low, Sporadic.

I have cleaned the MAF and its cleaned the connectors, but still seem to have the problem.

Anybody have some more into as to what the "Low signal" could mean. It is possibly a connection problem or is the MAF on it's way out.

    Thanks
    Andre

Check S2central for instructions how to measure your MAF with a DMM.

ISV problems can cause MAF fault codes, had this on a vectra only 2 weeks ago.

Thanks for the feedback guys, friendly banter aside , tell me more about the ISV. How could an ISV affect the MAF ?? Or is it visa versa. I guess they must be connected in some way.

Just to add to the mix, the blasted machine has started with a pre-detonation problem too now. Does it in 6th if you give it WOT. I'm going to test the MAF tonight following the (rather well hidden) testing method from S2Central. I hope the MAF is stuffed, since at least I will have a reason for the problems.

Could a faulty MAF cause pre-det??

Another thing now. The measured value supposed to be between contact No 1 and 3 is 2,5 volts and mine has only 2,25. All other values are a bit low aswell. I donno if this matters. The car goes nicely only it drinks alot. Will try another MAF.
