    3B Engine (450hp-500hp)

Hello guys, after my introduction and check a lot of interesting post here I have a better idea to achieve 450hp-500hp.
But probably you maybe help me.
I have my s2 engine out to modify it, I want to put better pistons and rods, gt30 turbo, better cams, headgasket, better clutch, bigger intercooler...

I don't know which are the best brands for this engine, normally I prepare celica GT4, but never a S2.
What aftermarket parts do you recommend me for my power goals?

    I wait your reply, thanks

Theres so many different options, your best bet is to read over some of the project threads. That should give you an idea of what people have achieved.

sorry to be off topic, stumbled across a crash damaged gt4 in my local scrap yard the other day, it only has front bumper, crash pannel and wheels missing. still has charge cooler, turbo etc. the discs and calipers look great for a project in mind, i know they aint exactly porsche but performance brakes are performance brakes.

im just wondering if there are any valuable/saught after parts on the car that would be worth getting?

      many thanks.

Hi, I guess that the "best" parts you can use depend on how big is your budget (a set of uprated rods can cost from 400 GBP, more or less, to more than 1000)
But to get those power numbers you probably just need to change the headgasket to a metallic one, an upgrade to direct coil ignition, new RS2 rod bearings and a custom mapping (obviously, with a bigger turbo and injectors).
Then it depends on how far you want to go with your engine rebuild, if you need to rebore or not, if you want to port the head or not...
I wouldn't mind about changing cams to get those values.
And, about changing pistons and rods to new ones, there are lots of options, as I said before, depending on your budget and if you want to get your parts from Europe or the US.
The same thing if we talk about clutch (which, obviously, would need to get replaced). My choice would be a Sachs Performance one.
As S2_Bo has said, there are many project threads with power goals similar to yours that could be a good guide but, being a 3B, a gearbox change would also be recommended.
        Cheers from Barcelona!

Example shopping list, assuming engine is in good nick:
          GT30R 0.82 A/R
          Exhaust manifold
          Better intercooler
          Compression lowering head gasket
          Uprated fuel pump
          510cc or bigger injectors
          SRE Pressure plate

          And some careful mapping.

no worry for the off topic, you can sell a lot of parts of the st205 that you have, the four calipers would be a good upgrade for others cars (I have them in my st185) you can sell them on ebay, probably you get 300€. The watercooler is a good upgrade for Mr2 and Celica st165-st185 too, would be easy to sell it. The gen.3 3sgte engine and the CT20turbo would be easy to sell if it's in good condition.
You can get some money for this, check ''ebay'' and you will have an idea...

Thanks for you opinion, I'm from Barcelona too.
I have heard that those engines are really strong, but can I go safely on 450hp with stock pistons and rods?
I want something reliable, and if on the future I want to fit a bigger turbo and boost up to 2 bar... who knows...
I have to disamble the head this week and check how it is cylinders, crankshaft...

Thanks! What is it the sock size headgasket?

They are only 360cc. I said at least 510cc
And with custom mapping, yes you can do this safely on stock rods.

It should have a quite linear torque curve as well.
