Paul did you make that spreadsheet at the end? I am interested in taking a look at it and see how various parameters affect car performance.

Yeah... I also want to see what a 7,800rpm rev imit would give me, reckon it's about 192mph. And then of course need to work out how much power I need at that rpm to get there
Would be intriguing to see what my old 428bhp Coupe would have been capable of at the top-end though, pretty sure it would haev made the 7,400rpm redline in 5th.
Also, did any calculations ever get made for the avant? It's top-speed is 150 over 154 as standard, so I guess that give it about 2.7% more drag?AUDI - saving Dad's from minivans since 1994

Fixing a sticky speedo.
Last week end I removed the clocks from my car (there's a how to on the forum somewhere; you don't have to take the steering wheel off by the way).
After taking them apart so I could get to the faces of the clocks I GENTLY removed the needle of the speedo and low and behold found the dredded peel at work. After using a very sharp knife to remove the peeling face I reassembled the whole lot and put them back in the car. Whilst assembling them I set the speedo needle for a more accurate speed reading.
Guess what? The speedo now works. 30 min job thats taken me 2 years to start.
