    3B damper bolt

Has anyone successfully reused the bolt that tightens damper to crankshaft?

It seems that oil pump seal is leaking so I need to remove it and replace the seal. To do that I need to remove the damper and that damn bolt. I just replaced it last fall.

I know the instruction says that it should be replaced, but it's 18mm 12.9 bolt. Even the much longer and thinner head bolts can be re-used once or twice. (Okay, the torque isn't that high there).

I wasn't aware of a requirement to replace that bolt.

I've done numerous timing belts on 5 cyl cars and never replaced that bolt.

I have done belts with and without replacing the bolt, no issues. It is not expensive to buy though, so I replace them now.

I know the cost isn't that big although in here it costs 20e or so and I don't want to wait week or two for new bolt from some ebay-shop or something.

But it seems that information increases the pain since without it you wouldn't know that you need to replace the bolt everytime.

But yes, I guess I'll replace the bolt anyway.
