    Cold weather boost reduction?

Does anyone know cold the outside temperature has to be for the ecu to start reducing boost pressure? or even better have a graph.

Just wondering cos my homefried aby is seeing about 1.1-1.2 bar and its about 4-5 degrees outside

From what i've noticed on my car, from hot to cold day, the boost goes up by 0.1 BAR. Thats going from about 30 deg C down to 12 deg C. I stay in South Africa, so it doesn't go under 0 deg C over here. I can't imagine ice cold air would make it over boost more than 0.2 BAR.

Sounds a little low but will drop a touch on that chipset, especially if you have a bigger IC.

I dont think over boosting is a bad thing! It normally goes up by 0.1 BAR which isn't going to damage the motor unless its been tuned at 99% of what the motor is capable (parts strenght wise). Detonation is a much bigger issue than parts not coping under boost. And the car getting ice cold air prevents detonation, which rules out the main cause of damage.

I think to have read somewhere that in the ADU and ABY engines during cold IAT the ECU tuned the boost down in order to maintain nearly the same engine output during all conditions.

As above. In the winter, I very rarely saw over 1.3 bar on the 1.5 bar chipsets I've tried. There is a table for stock map boost vs. temperate on S2central

Boost vs. IAT? Not all do and certainly not the early ones.

                    Cheers for the comments guys

I did try unplugging the air temp sensor on the inlet mani and the boost shot easily to 1.4. But was not sure how much the cold weather was meant to affect it the boost and was wondering if the sensor was working correctly.

I did try swapping it out with another I had lying around but there was no difference between the two.
