I am currently spending mucho time ensuring that my '93 ABY engined Coupe is running to OE spec, before I start to upgrade it. I would like to pose a question to the gurus on the forum regarding boost pressure testing.
PRJ raised many interesting points lately regarding checking for leaks within the inlet manifold system AND the miscellaneous takeoff pipes for WFV's, boost gauges etc.
What about the valves themselves, be it inlet or exhaust. To me it makes more sense to check as much of the engines leakage points as possible.
My question is: In an inline 5 cylinder engine (20V) is there a defined amount of crankshaft degrees either side of a defined crank position (TDC) where I can be certain that all of my inlet OR exhaust valves are all closed? This is in order for me to check the whole inlet system for leakage. Assume standard ABY cams for this topic as things will change with other cam specs.
On another note is it possible to check an I5 engine for boost leakage on the both banks of valves??
