    Fuel pump wiring upgrade

Guys, I've been thinking of this mod for a while and I think now is the time to do it. Has anybody done it and if so what are the parts/specs needed to complete.......

    Thanks Kevin

Kevin, what age was your UR?? and what was the original engine code?? I could see what pump is in it and see what a good upgrade would be.

I just had a look on ETKA, looks like its an external fuel pump so i have no idea what would be best to use. Maybe a phonecall to Dialynx for some info would help. Ask them what pump you need and how much to fit etc

LMFAO, doug just made me re-read the thread!!! we can do this at the RR meet, shouldnt be too hard to do. Just get yourself a std 4 pin relay and some wire and a fuse holder, just like greg said.

                  hi again.......

hi again guys. Sorry but I should have explained myself. The car does have an external pump situated close to the where there the battery is. The reason I require the mod is something that Mihnea said during the last mapping session. Her mentioned that the car may be runnnig a bit lean WOT but was not too sure. The best way without changing the pump immediately was to hard wire directly to the pump.
Having given the car to a car nut in Stirling and with me not mentioning anything about this possible issue he came back and said he thought the car was running a bit lean WOT. Hence the reason I am here asking-)

                  Cheers Guys

                  Kevin

It is common on most of our cars - the wiring is not very beefy and when the pump is working hard you get a voltage drop across the wiring - so the pump only sees 10V or so - adding some thicker wire as a supply and using the original wiring to switch on the relay will help the problem and you will get closer to the 14V at the pump.

Where is the pump? And where is there a good 12V supply on your car?

You don't want to be running lean with >2 bar boost!

Doug, the pump is almost directly below where the battery is inside the car ie
just in front of the rear footwell. Maximum distancew from baterry cannot be more than 18 inches.......

Easy to do then - Are you going to do it yourself? Or get Tom to do it when he is at mine in 3 weeks?

Does Mihnea need to check your car out that week? During the day would probably be best midweek.

Kevin - we'll see closer to the time how many are staying at mine - I might ship some down the road to you.

As for chicks - I suppose it all depends on how much we tip the strippers.
