Can anyone confirm differences of about 0.01mm between 2measurements of bore one with no head and one with cylinder head and gasket mounted and torqued? It is hard for me to make good measuring because block has great wearing and i can not take measurements exactly in the same place in the upper part of cylinder and this can not be relevant.I will post measurings later

Now i noticed if i move the measuring tool 1mm upper or lower in the bore measuring changes with about 0.01mm.I have a starting point but it is hard to get the tool steady(beacuse of the movement i have to do with it to get to the max size reading)
I imagine most important part of the bore for distorsions will be the upper part. But that part is like a cone due to wearing.I should bore one block to 81.25 make the calculations and after that bore/hone to 81.5,the dimension needed for piston kits.
Will do a torque plate, just to be shure but for low level of power it seems to be irelevant using it.Also seems irelevant using a plate when honing with the block at room temp.It should be heated to be 100% corect.
Where you see .005mm the tool needle sit between 2 units that are .01mm.I do not have a .001 mm tool for bores.
Something strange happen when calibrated bore dial with micrometer and inserted into not-used part of bore.Bore had 80.95mm.Micrometer was not calibrated,Lucky with gifts from my father, the calibrating set
.On the box is USSR named

I can measure mine...is still with the torque plate attached...
I will measure the bore with the torque plate and without in 4 different depths.
I will let you know!

MARE DOMN!!!!!!!!!
In english:"true gentilman"
Thank you Eugen.I would like to ask you one qusetion:did you ever tried to grind before lapping the valves on an i5 and run that engine?Producer says:"grinding is not alowed, only lapping".The exhaust valves are so burned and i remember last heads taking half or 1 day of lapping to get them to "clean".Attached FilesComment

5 pot with 82,5 does audi ( in 2,3 liter:NG and 7A) and 034 does the turbokit to those : )...... and you may raboe to 83,00 too, its omly 1,0mm of the thicknes of the syl wall...
i have even seen in germany website they do rebore, and have the pistons for the 84,00 tooComment

I did a mistake.81.25 i ment not 82.5.The final bore/honing will be 81.5,as our pistons are.But seems not necesary,Eugen will take some measuring on his block torqued and free.5 pot with 82,5 does audi ( in 2,3 liter:NG and 7A) and 034 does the turbokit to those : )...... and you may raboe to 83,00 too, its omly 1,0mm of the thicknes of the syl wall...

I always regrind valves and recut seats on i5 engines. Overbore over 82mm and you have mls headgasket issues because there is none.
When fitting a torque plate if deck surface is freshly machined there will be no measurable distortion in finished bore of 81.5 unless you have very accurate measuring equipment. The deflection in the bore is less than .0005" and will happen at 4 points lining up with headstuds to a depth of approx 10mm from deck surface. Unless you have expensive automated honing equipment you will have more taper on the bore from top to bottom than deflection caused by bolting cylinderhead to block
