    Replace rods on my UrS4..

    Hi!

I´m thinking of replacing my stock rods with Scat ones from 034 and just wounder what parts I need to do this job ?

I will remove the head with the in/ex manifolds bolted on including the turbo so no new gaskets there..

is it a good idea to replace the chain for the cams and the lifters ?

When reassembly the sump, should I go with the oem gasket or silicone liquid gasket ?

Do i need to change the piston rings or hone the cyl if the compression is good on all and not consuming oil ?

Should I go for the dropping head gasket or go with the steel one with stock thickness ?

My goal is 500whp when I´m done with stock pistons!

Hope u can give me some tips and recommendations!

I allready have an fully rebuilt engine waiting but I will probably sell that one and go with the cheaper alternative on the engine allready in the car

You won't make 500whp on pump fuel with stock head, even on 8.0:1 CR. And you will need a very thick gasket to get to 8.0 CR.
You will need octane booster in fuel, meth injection or similar.

With ported head, possible larger valves you can get close. If you plan to use the full range on that turbo, you should use 7A cams and probably get mechanical lifters...

          Thnx for the info

Right now I´m running 98 octane fuel, what´s the possible horsepower from a stock head with 7A cams that I allready have, forgot to mention them (I´m running hall in disty)

So i will probably make around 500 engine horsepower with my setup ? My goal is 500whp..

My horsepower gain could I get with ethanol (E85) that is a common pump fuel here in sweden ? I know that I need atleast 3 044 pumps for that goal..

Stay away from adjustable FPR's. Use the standard 4 bar FPR.

Thnx for the advice, i´ll do as u say!

Right now I´m crossing my finger and hope that my tax money will be recieved about the 7-8th of June.. Around $4000 to spend on the car
That money should be enough for a rod replace, new ecu including tuning

I´m going with prj´s answer on that: bad tuning causing this and very much true indeed since I´ve got some info that the car the parts are from had a different setup of cams that he sold before I bought the stuff - he claimed he was using 7A cams that I have but turned out to not be true at all!

Even have my thought that some of my rods is bent using 1,7bar with this bad tuning. Well see what we got when the sump comes down

Did get a really nice price on part from CP-Service here in Sweden that I can´t resist

just have a little question, what serpentine belt should I use when I don´t have the ac pump mounted ?

A quick movie on my car and the upgrades: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crx1pvOSWXE&feature=plcp

A questions, if I will be replacing the pistons rings, should do a slight honing ? is it okey to do this If I seel upp the bottom of the cylinder so the dust can´t reach the crank and so on ??

I´ve read in some volvo manual that if u wan´t to change rings without honing u´ll change em all except for the top ring - true or false ?

Anyway, I will inspect the cyl bores for scratshes, blank areas and such, if everything is okey I will reuse the stock pistons and rings, if not, the engine will come out and be sent to a shop for bore and hone with deckplate and new JE pistons will be fitted!

Does anyone know were to find the wrist pins for the stock pistons or is it a included part in the rod kits ?
