    Engine Build - AAN / ABY/ RS2 20vt - Questions?

    Hi guys,

That's me gathered up all the parts I need for my AAN / ABY / RS2 20vt conversion, I'm putting the engine in an Audi 80Q (Type 89) - thread - http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=52258

Since the engine is out I’m going to get the components all cleaned up and painted and rebuild everything, while it’s easy to get around it I thought I might as well change the timing belt and do the cylinder head gasket…….so……..

    So on the garage floor I have;
    AAN engine

    ABY Wiring Loom
    ABY Water Rail
    ABY Fuel Rail
    ABY PCV System
    ABY Cam Cover
    ABY Boost Pipe

    Audi 90 Instrument Cluster
    Audi 90 Flywheel
Audi 90 Radiator, Plumbing, Brackets, etc
Audi 90 Sachs Performance Clutch kit with reinforced pressure plate and organic clutch

    RS2 Remapped ECU - Hoffer
    RS2 Injectors - Hoffer
    RS2 Hybrid Turbo - Hoffer
    RS2 Exhaust Manifold
    RS2 Inlet Manifold
    RS2 Intercooler

    Porsche 996 Front Calipers (425/426)
    314mm Audi Discs

OEM Boost gauge and “turbo” vent blank – Ebay.de

    I'm looking to get;
    044 Fuel Pump
Metal Head Gasket & Head Bolts
    Thermostat & Seal
Exhaust Manifold Gasket – Do I need an RS2 exhaust manifold gasket or are they the same?
Inlet Manifold Gasket – Do I need an RS2 inlet manifold gasket or are they the same?
Turbo to EM Gasket – Which gasket do I order?
Turbo to Down Pipe Gasket – Which gasket do I order?
    Turbo to EM bolts
    Turbo to Down Pipe bolts
Wastegate Gaskets – I’m using the AAN wastegate, I read that there is no such thing as a wastegate gasket, can anyone confirm this?
Cam Cover Gasket Kit – Do I need an ABY cam cover gasket kit?

    Samco Hoses.....?
    Bambridge Brackets
Porsche brake pads to fit those calipers

Hoffer reckons that it should be around 350-370bhp, do you have any other recommendations / advice, or do you think that everything else is strong enough to reliably cope with the upgrades?

    Cheers
    Leigh

Great looking start to your project, defo no waste gate gasket got mine off at the minute and it's just a metal ring that sits in between.

      I'm looking to get;
044 Fuel Pump - drifting jo had a good link for them
Metal Head Gasket & Head Bolts - get a head set from gsf NOT pete reeve as they are cheaper than him.
      Thermostat & Seal - tps/gsf
Exhaust Manifold Gasket – Do I need an RS2 exhaust manifold gasket or are they the same? - it will be in the head set
Inlet Manifold Gasket – Do I need an RS2 inlet manifold gasket or are they the same? - in same kit as above
Turbo to EM Gasket – Which gasket do I order? - stock one should do
Turbo to Down Pipe Gasket – Which gasket do I order? - stock one should do
Turbo to EM bolts - ebay are cheap for these
Turbo to Down Pipe bolts - same as above
Wastegate Gaskets – I’m using the AAN wastegate, I read that there is no such thing as a wastegate gasket, can anyone confirm this? - don't remember seeing one.
Cam Cover Gasket Kit – Do I need an ABY cam cover gasket kit? - in the gsf kit

Samco Hoses.....? - get roose, they will turn up quicker
Bambridge Brackets - brilliant stuff from him
Porsche brake pads to fit those calipers
      - check out le audi s2's group buys.

A victor reinz kit will get you the majority of bits you are after, they are around £70 from gsf.

Thanks djh! Answered all my questions

I'll get ordering tomorrow, had a quick look on gsf but the head gasket set is out of stock, I'll give them a call though to double check, if they don't have any then I'll call quattro corner.

The Roose hoses look good, I think I'll maybe have to buy them as I go along, they're a bit more expensive than I thought

I found driftin jo's link but the link doesn't work.....

I'd include a oil & water pump while it's out... then you could do the mains, big ends, thrust..... ohhh where do you end.

Personally I'd just check the condition of your existing oil pump, new oil pumps are very costly and there have been some issues regarding their quality. You need to check the lash between the gears with a feeler gauge, can't remember the figure off the top of my head.

Integrated engineering with the force fed wrist pin oiling. More expensive option but that way you retain the original pressurised oil feed to the small end bush providing it with longevity when running big boost figures.
