I recently uppgraded my old piece of **** stock s2 radiator fan with a 12" high performance Spal fan. Almost a bolt on solution, saves space and draws less current and works perfectly.

The cooling is much better, I use the Vipec to control the fan, its set to 95c with a on periode of 3c.. last week on the track I had no more than 96c.
If you have a look at the original fan, its obvious that the Spal fan is much more efficient.. more advanced fanblade design
don't get me wrong, but i am skeptical. I don't think that skinny *** fan could deliver enough cfm. Those high performance fans need to draw that much current to achieve that performance, they don't joke, they perform.
With this, in sunny California i couldn't go nowhere in LA traffic, that's what i think.
I was just wondering something.. At my car i have an embarassing small radiator...Hear this.. HONDA del sol radiator hehe.. ok ok i know.. my temp reaches 110degrees on track a sunny day its not fun..
I talked to a BMW guy who had almost the same setup on his "built trackcar" and he said: -Remove the fan and you will get better flow through it..!!! Hmm but it will not let me stay att idle for to long without fan..
But how is it with flow through your radiator quattrofrank when using that scope on the backside ? Does your fan SUCK as "he ll" ???
So does this mean i have 2 options för my nishmoto radiator?
#1 remove fan and get more flow but no idle temp.. #2 Improve intake flow to radiator an get a high performance spal fan ..
Heres a pic from my enginebay.. you can almost see radiator.. I went this way to decrease weight

almost 30amps at max, the old fan use up to 40amps. Spal fan has better fanblade design, more blades and is skinnier. The stock fan was probably designed in the late 70`s, its plausible to assume that the technology has moved on since then..
I dont have any temp issues anymore, I dont use my car every day.. its built for track use but if it can hold lap after lap on the track, its more than good enough for the streets

The flow seems ok, but the most critical part is to lead more air into the radiator. Make a funnel with a design that take as much air from the front as possible.

hmm you got a point there... but hmm isnt 034 in California.. their heavy duty radiator should handle that even with that fan ?

Ok yep.. i think I have to spend some time at the drawing table and build a really good funnel into the radiator.. Because i want to keep this radiator if possible.. it´s light and takes up very little space in enginebay.......
