I have heard about end of exhaust valve dropping off but have only seen it once. I'd rebuild head yourself and see. If in doubt replace it's worth doing once and properly.

There is a couple of burrs into th swirl pot and a grove the shape of the heater plug end in the Side of the swirl pot other damage is surface damage where valves have made contact with the top of the piston.

Just looked again and cleaned it up a bit there is a lump came off at the edge of the swirl pot, a new piston it's going to be.

Haven't posted in a while, engine went in. Eventually had to swap flyweheel clutch etc.
And it was raining non stop as fitted the engine (had to hire an engine crane). The car ran well then the alternator packed in had it rebuilt for£80 from a local auto electrics, now the heater is not warming up fully so i need to swap the thermostat, and need to change the front wheel bearing. Now i need a jack as i haven't got one (any donations greatly received) thinking of another old spare to use as snow tyres.
Oh and it flew through its MOT, no failure points
