    No wastegate sound...

during the test drive today, I didnt notice any dump valve sounds on throttle lift or gear change. Boost is running nicely and can hear the BOV but nothing else is happening.

I can't currently pull codes if you see my other thread...not helping!

What you are saying makes no sense .
You say you can hear BOV but not dump valve ?!!? they are the same thing.
Do you mean waste gate when you say BOV (blow off valve) ?

Waste gates don't make ant sound you can hear, unless you have a screamer pipe that is.

A lot of people refer to 'waste gate chatter', this is in fact compressor stall, not the waste gate noise at all.

If your BPV/ dump valve/ recirc valve are working well you should not get compressor stall.

      Terminology errors there!

Basically, as soon as you lift or change gear there's no dump...boosts fine and hold well

I remember when I got the car you could always hear it, even just driving around town

So when you say you can hear the 'BOV' what sound are you talking about ?
If it is like the old S1 works car then that is compressor stall and would make sense if your recirc valve is not dumping pressure at gear change/ shut throttle.
Is it all plumbed in ok. What valve are you using ?

Under boost you can hear it bypassing ok, but as soon as you lift there's no dump of the pressure from the recirc valve.

Running stock setup. It's plumbed in correctly I think, will have to pull the light out and double check

Hmm what you are saying is gibberish and makes no sense, under boost you can hear the DV working?

Under boost the divertor should be closed

This is getting even more confusing, you can hear what bypassing under boost?
You shouldn't hear anything, the only thing I hear is the intake rush and exhaust note.

If its a new stock valve and plumbed correctly you shoudlnt hear it, the charge goes back into the intake tract and isnt dumped to atmosphere. Mine was alot louded on an old valve and quietened down to almost silent with a fresh 710n.

                  Ignore the rest then...

Simple terms...no dump of the pressure (woosh noise) when you lift or change gear

Did you have a none stock valve before and have changed to stock now ?
None stock piston type valves tend to make more noise, this is because they don't open as quick as the stock diaphragm ones do and this gives time for a pressure spike, the result is when they do open they make more noise.

If you have stock airbox and stuff then its a very faint noise you would get with the stock diverter. I have a mushroom filter and its a really loud whoosh when i let off the loud pedal.
If it makes a kind of chchchch noise when you let of then the diverter is not opening and the compressed air is backing up against the spinning turbo.(kind of like if you blow into a desk fan against the air, it makes a funny noise but on a higher pressure scale)

That's a good point, I've changed back to stock air box, it used to be a cone filter.

It didn't sound like the turbo was stalling anyway

Bingo ! There is your answer, Your cone filter was why it was audible before and quiet now.
