Yes, you can hear it more with the RS2 airbox, especially if you have the RS2 turbo as well and your changing gear at 1.85 bar.

Loose wastegate bolts or nackered gasket where it bolts to the top of the manifold by four studs. That can let out a chatter on boost as it's modulating.Volcano ABY coupe

Wastegate chatter/wastegate stall (al be it wether its internal or external for some reason) gives the choochoochoo noise we all love, unless the shirt lifters enjoy the sound of heavy commercial vehicles PTSSSCHHHHH every gearchange lol
having a closed intake lets no sound escape, yet open/cone type filters lets sound and forced air escape (but with no filter or inlet on a turbocharger you will not experience any noises!)

Massive reduction in noise from the DV going from a cone to the RS2 airbox... BTDT. Fitting a foam air filter gives you a nice balance - i.e. you can hear it but it's subtle. With my dahlback induction kit you could make people jump out of their skin shifting with midrange boost!AUDI - saving Dad's from minivans since 1994

You are talking bolocks ,There is no such thing as waste gate chatter , they don't make any noise . The only time you would know your wast gate had opened is if you have a screemer pipe. The noise you are describing made by the turbo on S1 rally cars because they did not run a dump/recirc valve. The noise is caused by pressure backing up through the turbo compressor when they shut the throttle.Wastegate chatter/wastegate stall (al be it wether its internal or external for some reason) gives the choochoochoo noise we all love, unless the shirt lifters enjoy the sound of heavy commercial vehicles PTSSSCHHHHH every gearchange lol

How does having no filter on a turbo mean you will have no noise ? The noise is the recirc valve dumping air back into the inlet of the turbo so the less filter/intake you have the more you will hear the noise.Comment
