    Fueling question on chipped 3b

    Hi All

My question is a simple one especially for Mihnea. I have a chipped 3B (Mihnea special). Would using 102 octane fuel harm the engine in any way?

    Cheers

Craig, nope, it sure won't, and IMHO you should get even better performance by allowing the ECU not to retard timing under heavy load accelerations...

Try it and let us know how it works, there is no engine damage risk involved IMHO/IME!!!

Thanks for the reply Mihnea. Will it take time for the ECU to adapt to the different fuel or will the performance increase be instantaneous?

Craig, I'd suggest you to disconnect the ECU when you fill up with 102 octane to make sure the ECU's adaption values are properly erased... otherwise it might take it a couple miles to get used to the new fuel....

        Cheers,

Could I just disconnect the battery terminal?

Sure, or pull the ECU fuses (marked as "MOTOR-Moteur") in the fuse box.

I noticed an improvement with Millers CVL and Optimax in mine (claimed 101+ Octane). Now I am not using it the car feels like it has flatspots!! LOL! Very noticable difference before and after.
