    2005 A4 TDI emissions light

Right had a phone call from the missus today saying there is a light on the dash. I'm away in another country so I ask her to describe to me what it looks like and the colour. It's a yellow one in the top left hand corner, describing it was proving difficult as you can imagine so she sent me a picture. Turns out it's the emissions control light. What's your thoughts on the reason for the light coming on, a dicky lambda probe, I’m hoping or the cat? Cars a 05 model with 100k, full Audi SH. I know it will have to go on the diagnostic but any rough ideas..

Yep, if its the 2 TDi and used for short journeys only, it probably hasn't done a clean cycle and is blocked up. Dealer can force a DPF clean cycle or take on the motorway in 4th at 70mph for 25mins which sometimes gets car to do a clean cycle on its own...
Other possibility is fuel filter, Had this light on my 3Tdi and went into limp home too, changed fuel filter and fault not returned...

It's a 1.9.. Just had a fuel filter on its last service February I think will check when I get home. It's driven in the town during the week and does a run down the motorway 1-2 times per month. I always give it a good run out though when I'm home . Got a email from the Missus this morning. She took it up to the Metro Centre 40miles away and the light went off halfway up... Must have wanted a run out for that clean cycle. Cheers for that gents, fingers x
