At £85 are Nissens radiators still something to avoid

Have just seen these go onto ebay: Nissens Radiator

Looks very cheap, considering a behr one is ~£200.

Too many people seem to have had bad experiences with them though but at this price is it worth getting one as a spare?

My Nissens one cracked after 3 years but that's not to say the Behr one is without its downsides. Large core alloy jobbie has got to be the way forwards...

The Behrs cost about £140 if you ship around, to be fair they last 3x as long!
AKG is another brand worth considering, they make a lot of the newer Audi OEM stuff

Hmm http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6051 they were crap back in the day and I can't see them being any better now

I'd be honest if my rad goes pop I'd replace it with a Ali one or 7A one with the aux rad pickup removed

I need to check thats the right rad

Looks like £85 isn't much of a bargain for these either, there are other nissens 60442 rads on ebay for £94, didn't realise that that was the going rate.

I'll have to stop buying parts from "wesawyoucoming.com" if Behrs can be had for £140!

Had my nissens about 5 years. No probs yet. If any connections leak they can be brazed too. With oem or behr it's a throw away item.

The connections are a little soft but as long as you dont go mad tightening stuff up and bending things back and forth they are ok.

Had a Nissens rad in my 8v coupe for 2 years without any problems. Also used a couple of their heater matrix' again without issue

Just thought I'd bring this thread back,

@ Error, what make 10v rad did you end up going for? I'm sure you told me at ADI but I can remember and my nissens has sprung a leak!
