Italian 2.0 turbo engine code

Hy! I know somebody here said once that in Italy....was sold an 2 litter version of the AAN engine...Is this right?
Iff yes...can you tell me what engine code has that?

Only a 2.0 liter version of the 2.3 liter 7A was made to my knowledge. It's motorcode NM (which generates some trouble when googling it).

Italian urS4 and urS6 have the same 2226ccm AAN as any other.

There's a forum member who showed us the Italian papers of his urs4/6 and yes,he says it is a 2000 turbo,maybe less like 1996....

We think that is the same engine but with NM crankshaft?

Possible. The pistons must be a bit higher though?

There was a member with a 2 liter AAN engine from Hohenester. Built for the Italian market since they had crazy tax for cars abone 2 liter (as in Greece).

Italian urS4 and urS6 from Audi have the same 2226ccm AAN as any other. ABT did a special 1993ccm version for Italy based on the NM crankshaft and the AAN block for tax reasons. Live and learn

ahaaa!! So this engine was not audi oem version...just an modified oem engine. This makes sense now.

Nuno: I think it was me that made up "AANM" (AAN block with NM crank). Both Alessio (the owner of the ABT 2L UrS6 avant) and I tried to get more details out of ABT but they claimed that they didn't have those records. SO no proof of the NM crank but it makes sense since it was an off-the-shelf item for the Italian market version of the 7A, the NM.

Here is some info from the GenteMotori Feb. 96 article about the Italian market ABT UrS6 (not crank is 77.6 mm throw and compression ratio is down to 8.8:1)

I just know what we manufactured 149mm connecting rods for this engines, block the same as AAN just stroke 79,5mm. Good version for big rpm.
