    RS2 Turbo Cracked

I've noticed a crack on the exhaust side (hot side?) of my RS2 turbo. Should I be worried as it's around 50mm long and can be seen and physically felt.

Also, as I'm having a set of MTM chips fitted, but keeping stock internals on the ADU engine, should I:

    1. Just leave it?
    2. Attempt to have it repaired?
    3. Change the turbo to something else?
    4. If changing, what to?

    Thanks in advance.

I doubt it can cause damage. May as well fix it when/if it starts blowing. Unless anyone is aware more severe failure modes.

I had to replace the hot side of my RS2 turbo due to cracking. The crack ran right into the scroll and could potentially have ruined the unit it left. I'll drag it out of the garage and take a pic of it.

        Here you go...

No signs of cracking from the outside

But quite a few cracks on the inside

They all look like that, well a lot of them anyway, the thing is once they crack they generally stay like that, obviously the odd one lets go but I've never seen it
happen with one, or a cracked manifold either.

My RS2 turbo has cracks and my RS2 manifold has cracks and I'm not worried in the slightest.

For every person who has had one fail completely there will be hundreds of people
that haven't, I suppose it all depends how paranoid you are about it.

I wouldn't have replaced it and didn't realise it was there until the turbo went off for a refurb. Turbo Dynamics didn't want to complete the work until a new hotside was sourced. perhaps they were just erring on the safe side. The replacement hotside wasn't expensive anyway so I sorted it to be sure it was ok. I have no worries about cracking on the RS2 manifold, they all have it.
