    Oil pressure sender

Is there a direct replacement aftermarket solution or is the only option the stupidly priced OEM one from the dealer?

    Cheers

I am quite sure the pressure sender (the one that creates the signal for the 0-5 Bar pressure gauge) is made by VDO so there is some hope of finding an aftermarket one if you don't like the OE dealer pricing.

The other thing to note is that not all the senders have M16 threads as in your
picture. I have a late AAN and it has M10x1 for both senders, the same as the ABY,
well at least the ABY's I've seen anyway.

They are not unique to Audi, our 993 has one that looks identical buried in the back of the engine bay. As above find a VDO distributor, you can download the catalog from here http://www.vdo.com/generator/www/com...redirect=false

The M16 is related to the location of the check valve discussed in my link. If the pressure sender is an M10, it will be screwed into an M16 x M10 adapter like this pressure switch is.

Yes, an adapter is in the ABY and late AAN I have, my point was that the sender
            was M10X1.

The high pressure warning (small one) is about £12 they work the opposite way to normal. Normal being its a switched earth..

cheers mate. Its my low pressue / gauge sender which is playing silly ******s, jumps to 3bar on turning the key and stays there without a flicker when the engine starts. It also sets off the low pressure warning when the engine is not even running! Suffice to say its fubar'd!

Surely if the low pressure warning is going
Off without the engine running then there
Is something other than the sender at fault.

Maybe but I've had this phantom pressure warning before with this dual sender and a different one seemed to fix it? If I unplug the wires from the sender there is no warning, so I deduced the sender is at fault?

                        Hi Alex,

Are you sure, I just had a quick look and there seams to be a number of M10x1 that are 5bar senders, perhaps im missing something though

They are all conical threads though, the OE one is a parallel thread. Could use an adapter I guess, but rather have a correct fit if poss
