Yes, it rises. What I have understand you need to be a little careful that you don't use too much advance on high rpm's other wise you can get dangerously big cylinder pressures. But E85 is 106 octane. I'm sure you understand what that means.

ahh okey.. but isn´t the cylinder pressure getting higher with e85 ?

Just wounder, u all talking about 8:0-1 in comp. Is it necessary to lower the ratio for 5-600hp or is it just for E85 users ?

100 octane is not exactly pump fuel. Did you read my post?
I am sure you can make over 600hp on a GT30R with racing fuel or E85, but again, I don't care much for that.

30R usually produces about 520-530hp on pump fuel and 8.0:1 CR.

Of course some ponies are taller than others.

Ok, that's a nice next project step then

Very true! When I was facing turbo upgrade I was reading forums about different turbos, turbo charts, A/Rs, wheel sizes, etc..... And finaly I took GT30R maybe best solution for 2.2t due to the balance between lag-spool-power. And PRJ is very right about 7A cams my car is about 550hp (maybe abit more due to latest upgrades )
But also very important is the ECU I had KMS now I'm running LINK and there was big improvement from how the car feels and responses.

Only down side is that GT30R can't be rebuild.... At least officially

30R will give you 500 and a bit extra with 7A cams, but I would run that turbo with stock cams, to have full boost at 4100 RPM in 3rd. You can run this one with stock compression ratio, and it will still make 480hp or more without much lag.

HX35, at least the ones available, with a K26 #6 housing it makes about 460hp, and full boost is closer to 3900 rpm in 3rd gear. The compressor wheel on it is 78mm, so bigger than a 30R, and the turbine wheel is 60mm.
If you fit a K26 #8 housing, you can get to 500hp, but it will be the same as 30R in a 3rd gear pull, full boost at 4200 rpm or so.
Dyno pulls in 5th gear with heavy meth injection have little resemblance to real world performance. 3500 rpm full boost is fairytales, it will never happen in a real scenario except for high gear.

However, the Garrett BB turbos will be much faster in 1st and 2nd gear. Especially the 30R, which will reach full boost in 1st gear and spin the wheels. The HX35 will only reach full boost by end of 2nd gear, in 1st gear it will not make more than 1.4-1.5 bar, same like a K26/K27.
The Garrett turbo has better transient response, but it is more expensive, and if something goes wrong with it, you're basically screwed. The HX35 is a lot more durable and rebuildable, does not need any kind of restrictors, and can be run with oil cooling only.

Also, if you want less lag, buy a V8 The 35R is still a manageable turbo, but it is slower than a 30R on 2.2T until 3rd gear. Unless you use antilag of course, but you are not going to when driving on the street.

    P.S.
Your car probably feels like crap, because your MAF housing has been changed, and I doubt that it is running correct timing in the entire range.
You can easily pick up 200 rpm in spool just from running correct ignition timing.
With cat cams you will have even more lag. Use 7A or Shrick.
    Interesting stuff!

    And now I want a 30R/35R

Both are not very useful when tuning.
EGT is damn simple on these engines, they stop making power before they hit an EGT ceiling. Every time I've measured EGT on these that's what happened.

Crap EGT means car tuned incorrectly. Lots of boost and little timing will do that.
As for seeing backpressure, I don't see the use of that at all in any way. Only to diagnose problems with blocked exhaust or analyzing the choke point, but when you have hardware already on the car and just need to tune said hardware it's absolutely useless.

It'll spool worse than an equal-runner manifold, but that's about it.

The restriction is not the manifold, it's the turbine.

i have same setup so know where your coming from regards lag,but a smaller turbo is not as much fun
Yeah, but I feel that´s something is missing I think my cams needs to be adjusted, I have a adjustable cam sprocket on the exhaust, not on the intake side.
    I have the .63 intake..

No I haven´t since the car hasn´t been tuned yet.. The mani doesn´t glow at least
