    Deformed JE pistons @ 900HP

    Hi Guys,

Well I guess I found the limit of JE pistons, without any thermal coatings.
Measured parralel with the small end its 80.75mm
Perpendicular to the small end its 81,3 mm

These are JE pistons with one oversize.
Engine lasted 8 years though, and didn't went out with a bang, just a small rattle that caught my attention.

So the big question, now what? Again JE's? or different design.... Any thoughts from other experienced board members on these facts?

    cheers

so they are not that much better than stock pistons, as from what I remember prosty tested them up to 800+ (or someone on here did)

Yeaqh right stock pistons wouldn't take 8 years of drag racing and track at that power level. They've done well to last this long with this abuse!

acctually a friend of mine used his stock pistons for 4 years then he broke a valve so he had to build a new engine, i think they would have lasted longer 800hp urquattro btw

Shame to hear the engine cried enough! You cant complain at 8 years use though I would be delighted with that!

It's not the power level it's the car use I severely doubt your friend used his car as hard as Jeffer for 8 years
What's the plan now? Stroker? Overbore? Cp or Je pistons?

I cant remember the specs of the pistons exactly but they will be slightly oval as there is more material around the gudgeon pin so it will expand more when hot. So when they are hot they become round.
