Fuel Tank Capacity Dilemma on RS2

Definitely sounds like there is a variance between RS2's.
I just stick a plastic 5L Jerry can with fuel in the back if I go on extended trips.

I thought the tank was the same on all saloon and avant quattros whatever the engine? I once drove over 50 miles with my fuel gauge not registering anything and managed to put 63.2l in the tank when I did fill up.
