    Wastegate flow data?

So how does the aftermarket wastegates perform to the Audi stock WG?

There have been mentioned in few threads then the Tial MVR(44) doesn't flow quite much. I also had the similar experience. Seemed that with a Holset HX40 Super #16(A/R 1.13) the lowest full boost you can get out is 1,6 bar.

Billman told he can hold 0,5-0,6 bar with a smaller hotside and stock WG.

    I had with HX40Super #14 on 2.2T 0,8-0,9bar with 50mm Chinese WG.
I tried 38mm Tial replica with the same setup and it wasent able to hold even 2.5bar.

Synapse 40mm holds 1.4 bar on OPEL 2.0T and with HX35.

It all comes down to how efficient everything else is. If the whole head and exhaust system has been optimised for spool once spooling you'll struggle to regulate it unless you have a big wastegate. Run a poor flowing head and exhaust and stock will suffice.

Have you tried your stock wastegate with your new setup also?

My stock wastegate was ported and could hold 1bar on the evo manifold. When turned to 1.7 bar it would creep upto 2bar depending what gear I was in. So it was on its limit.

What size hotside did you have now JP? Somehow I think it's srange that it cant hold the boost better, and with such a big hot side I have..? I even have only a lightly ported head and re-shaped valves.

Jea, would need to do my next manifold with a better, more smooth WG outlet.

a very smooth transition in ad out of wg will help flow a lot

Its a catch 22. Make the wastegate takeoff flow really well and you get exhaust pressure pushing the valve open making boost control difficult. Make it flow poorly in comparison to improve spool by having a superior collector and you have trouble controlling boost.
So personally I'd go for the latter option and fit a large wastegate to compensate on poor boost control.

Not really a direct comparison as you have a free flowing manifold in comparison to the restrictive cast one of Billman

Even my sq evo will be restrictive in comparison hopefully I won't have this problem. Be impossible to mount a 60mm wg on the sq evo em

Of course there is no problem if using enough boost like 2,5-3bar.
