We will see.....Really I believe that these Tial simply don't flow enough.

We have seen many cars running stock WG with ported heads and good cams (Rocco) that don't have issues.

Rocco also runs a free flowing exhaust and relative small turbine housing.

BTW I have a more restrictive manifold with more displacement and a relative small turbine housing which can easily lead to WG creep and/or uncontrolled boost.

Rocco car a Gt30r doesn't flow as much as a GT35r / super hx40r also if he was using a Repo manifold the ports on them are small ports to promote spool over ultimate flow

Yes but that means that he needs good wg flow in order to guide away the gas from the small turbine.

I mentioned this before in another thread, but I agree, it looks like these "upgraded" wastgates flow poorly compared to the stock Audi unit especially when combined with some manifolds. Also the manifolds arnt set up well as there is no real collector at the interface between the turbine inlet, wastegate inlet and cylinder convergence point. Remember, the more power you make the LESS flow you should be putting through a wastgate.

This has been proven many times was stock gates on 700hp cars. Remember volumetric efficiency cannot be greater than 100% over much of a rev range. It just isn't technically possible no matter what manifold, head or cam.

Also how well will these aftermarket gates work after 200k miles. The stock one does fine...

the small turbine is actually a restriction making it easier for a wg to flow gas as it becomes the path of least restriction more readily
Bigger turbos are less of a restriction once turning making it harder for the wg to bypass gas
This is what turbo smart told me when I was enquiring about their wastegate when I bought one

Jamo your right in what you said but remember it was in their interest to sell you a bigger wastgate than you need as they make more money and are less likely to hear back on problems.

Seems that this is true. With tubular manifold and my "MOT" stock K24 turbo setup the Tial can hold 1,4bar nicely. Quite funny because the turbo hot side is so tiny. With the big Holset #16 hot side the lowest boost it could hold is 1,6bar.

Your MOT turbo is not capable of supplying the same air mass flow, that's why it is capable now.
One needs to log both fresh air flow and backpressure before WG to log what is happening. Most likely it'll find a certain choking flow resulting in a pressure peak i.c.w. sudden temperature increase.
