    ABY losing power when accelerating

Looking for some advice if anyone has had this problem before. When I floor it the car accelerates initially before spluttering and losing power but when I ease off the throttle it runs fine again. It seems to be able to build up slowly but won't accelate properly which is a bit frustrating. Seems like it might not be getting fuel but i dont know enough about it to narrow it down from there.
    Any ideas would be appreciated?

    Coils/POS.
Mine (also an ABY) behaved badly like that until I replaced the coils.
It was a stumble to begin with, then became a noticeable dropout eventually a violent cut in power around 3500-4000 rpm.
It was extremely frustrating overtaking, you'd chip down, floor it, accelerate alongside then BANG BANG BANG no power!!!!

Right up until I replaced the coils I could get full revs, and as long as I let it pass 4500 rpm (I imagine highest cylinder pressures) before I floored the throttle, It was an annoying fault that really spoilt a great engine.
Also the avant has a comedy fuel filter fitted on top of the tank (yes really) and also fitted for life (I **** you not), I replaced mine with a golf GTI one which is now attached to the bulkhead right near the fuel rail inlet.
The fuel pumps fitted are known to become Ill just prior to complete failure too.

I had a problem with boost cut which I fixed over the weekend. Initially when on wot all power cuts out for <1 second then back on power, almost violently jolting as the power comes and goes. After the first cut at wot the boost cuts come in under any sort of boost.

Whenever I've had this it has been due to the MAF, usually unplugging it fixes it. But over the weekend it kept on coming back after unplugging. So I decided to do what I've read about on here a lot but never got round to doing despite having a pot of IPA in the cudboard for ~2 years.

I sprayed brake cleaner on the MAF wire (easier than giving it a bath), IPA contact cleaner on the MAF electrical connectors and then cleaned out the k&n air filter which had quite a few dead bugs in it. After this the S2 was flying again! I hadn't realised how badly it was running before!

Very scary especially when you're just about to overtake lorry's on country lanes

But do check for boost leaks first, (costs nothing)
