    Why the new (redundant) thread? The other one has the same info/questions in it?

        My 3B has the same issue just now, wires broken and they are a different colour from the ones listed.

        I started to work them out, IIRC the gauge wire maxes the gauge if you earth it, one should be an earth (redundant with the 3 pin mfts as it uses the body. I dont know if you could do something to the other pins and get autocheck to react, or monitor via vag com and see an apparent temp change? My car is off the road so it is on my to do list.

          Well this is perfect for you (I think)

          From pg. 9/17 of this 3B Motronic schematic on S2central.net showing the F76 Electronic Thermoswitch (aka MFTS) and its four pins:

          3/+ = Track 93 black/blue ==> goes to Track 70 on pg. 7/17 which is the switched power from fuse S12

          2/R = Track 95 starts off blue/black but changes to blue/white ==> goes to Track 22 on pg. 3/17 which is Pin 36 (T55/36) of the ECU = then likely to the A/C control ECU

          4/C = Track 98 blue/yellow ==> goes to T26/10 of the J189 Autocheck module (also on pg. 9/17)

          1/T = Track 99 brown/blue ==> goes to Track 78 = T26/2 of the instrument cluster = G3 coolant temp gauge on pg. 8/17

            One Version of an ABY MFTS wiring diagram

            Paul N. also has an ABY wiring pdf so I had a look at it after decifering the 3B MFTS. Here is the ABY info:

            From pg. 8/10 of this ABY Motronic schematic on S2central.net showing the F76 Electronic Thermoswitch (aka MFTS) and its four pins:

            3/+ = Track 83 black/blue ==> goes to Track 76 (stays on on pg. 8/10) which is the switched power from fuse S12

            2/R = Track 85 blue/white ==> goes to Track 69 on pg. 7/10 which is Pin 46 (T55/46) of the ECU = then likely to the A/C control ECU

            4/C = Track 85 blue/yellow ==> goes to T26/10 of the J268 mini-check module (also on pg. 8/10)

            1/T = Track 84 blue/brown ==> goes to Track 79 (still on pg. 8/10) = T26/2 of the instrument cluster = G3 coolant temp gauge (still on pg. 8/10)
